Abstract

The significance of the Institute for the History of Science and Technology of the RAS (IHST’s) contribution to the study of the history of the Soviet atomic project (SAP) is shown. The series of the most important events or stages of this process are highlighted. The first two such events were the creation of a group at the Institute together with «the Kurchatov Institute», which became the core of the All-Moscow Seminar on the History of SAP, and the publication of intelligence materials on the early history of SAP (1992–1994) in IHST’s “Studies in the History of Science and Technology” (“SHST”). In 1996 the IHST participated in the organization of International Symposium on history of SAP “HISAP’96”. The final events date back to the turn of the 1990s and 2000s and then to the first decade of the 21st century, when a number of important institute works on the history of SAP appeared.
