Abstract

This article examines the little-known early hybrid cars of different constructions and refutes the Bonhams auction specialists' assertion about the world's first hybrid car, the 1896 Armstrong Phaeton. In addition to known data, new information is provided about what appears to actually be the first car of this type, a Patton Motor Company car.
