Abstract

The photographs of Academician К.1. Satpayev (1899-1964), presented in the article,
come from the archive of Professor О.Р. Grigoriev (1909-2003) that is stored in the Russian Mineralogical Society. The images, accompanied with brief commentary, date back
to the period from 1956 to 1964, when Satpaev headed the Institute of Geological Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, at the same time being widely involved in public activities.
