Full text (PDF)Abstract
This article examines the transformation of functions and operational formats of the P.K. Kozlov Memorial Apartment Museum (SPb Branch of IHST RAS) in the situation of the forced closure of its physical space. Using the case study approach, the limits and controversies of the distributed museum model as applied to memorial science museums are explored. The article discusses the dominant narrative in contemporary museological discourse that presents digitalization as an unconditional advantage, and offers arguments about irreparable losses resulting from losing physical sites of memory.
