Full text (PDF)Abstract
The article reviews the issues related to the history of the Alexandrinsky Palace in
Moscow, currently occupied by the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
When analyzing the historiography of the 20th – early 21st century, special attention is paid
to the early history of the estate and the house of P.A. De mi dov, which, after it was
purchased by the Treasury, was rebuilt into the Alexandrinsky Palace. The role of L.P. Al -
ex an drov is highlighted: he established the existence of the Demidovian period in the
history of the building and published the results of his investigation. The reasons that
prompted Demidov to leave his grandfather's family seat in Nizhnye Sadovniki and move
to the vicinity of Bolshaya Kaluzhskaya Street are examined in detail for the first time. The
author believes that the main reason for this relocation was the new site's convenience for
creating a large botanical garden.
