Full text (PDF)Abstract
This publication contains the documents from the N.I. Vavilov Fonds, deposited in the Russian State Archive of Economics, which shed light on the early history of posthumous publication of N.I. Vavilov’s work “World stocks of local and selected varieties of cereals, grain legumes, and flax, and their use in breeding. (An attempt at agroecological classification of the global diversity of wheat, rye, oat, barley, pea, lentils, vetchling, chickpea, beans, and flax, in relation to breeding needs)” in the second half of the 1940s. The documents highlight the roles in this process of Academician D.N. Pryanishnikov, Vavilov’s wife and colleague E.I. Barulina-Vavilova, and his friends and associates: statistician and cartographer I.F. Makarov and plant breeder F.H. Bakhteev.
