Full text (PDF)Abstract
The article analyzes the history of one of the first secular educational institutions in Russia – the School of Mathematical and Navigational Sciences – at the initial stage of its formation. New data on the topic, which researchers have been studying since the 18th century, were established thanks to the introduction into scientific circulation of a little-known set of documents from the Armory Chamber, preserved in the personal collection of the professor of the Institute of the Corps of Railway Engineers N.P. Durov (1831–1879) in the manuscript department of the Russian State Library.
