N.F. Litke’s Works about F.P. Litke, Vice-Chairman of Russian Geographical Society

In 2025, the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) celebrates its 180th anniversary. The
idea ofits establishment belonged to F.P. Litke. In 1952, his great-grandson Nikolai Fedorovich defended his candidate dissertation titled «Admiral F.P. Litke’s Role in the Development ofRussian Geographical Science». It was one of the first attempts at summarizing information about the admiral’s life and work. A copy of this dissertation has been
preserved in M. Gorky Scientific Library of St. Petersburg State University. N.F. Litke
studied family history throughout his entire life. A typescript ofhis early article devoted to
genealogy and descendants ofF.P. Litke andA.V. Suvorov and titled «On the 150th Anniversary of the birth of F.P. Litke (1797-1947)...» is deposited in the RGO Scientific Archive.
