Full text (PDF)Abstract
In 1810–1816 the former chief head of the mining factories of the Urals, Anikita Sergeevich Yartsov (1736–1819), wrote the multi-volume “Russian Mining History” – a fundament al work dedicated to the metallurgical industry of Russia at the beginning of the 19th century. His work has survived in a single copy; until recently it remained unpublished. In 2018–2022 The first six volumes of this work were published in Yekaterinburg. The publication contains extensive and in some cas es unique information on the history of the economy, engineering and technology of the metallurgical industry in Russia at the beginning of the 19th century. The article shows how the work of A.S. Yartsov may be useful to a historian of technology. Issues related to methods of text transmission that are optimal for this monument are raised.
