Saratov trace of the 1944 meeting of Soviet historians in the Central Committee of the CPSU(b)

The article discusses the important aspects and themes concerned with Saratov of the 1944 meeting of Soviet historians in the Central Committee of the VKP(b). The meeting was triggered by Academician E.V. Tarle’s talks in Saratov, disagreed with by the historians who favored the class approach. A.M. Pankratova’s correspondence with her Saratov colleagues, seeking information about these speeches, is shown. It is emphasized that it had been a letter from the Saratov Oblast Committee of the VKP(b) regarding the meeting materials spread by Pankratova that prompted the consideration of the historian’s anti-party behavior in the Central Committee.
