The Front Paths of the Scientist N.A. Budreyko

The article describes the life and professional journey of Professor Nikolai Andreevich Budreiko, Head of the Department of Philosophy at the Mendeleev Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology (‘MKhTI’), Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, a founder of a scientific dynasty of philosophers and historians of chemistry. Based on the documents from the family archive, his military career during the Great Patriotic War is traced. The main areas of his scientific and teaching work in the post-war period are reviewed: setting up the Department of Philosophy at the MKhTI, creating the country’s first training course on “Philosophical Issues of Chemistry”, and establishing long-standing contacts between the MKhTI and the leading scientific organizations in this field, including the Institute for the History of Science and Technology of Russian Academy of Sciences. The article contains the letters and memoirs from the Budreiko family archive.
